Cultural Competence and Health Disparities Award

In 2005, the University of Washington School of Medicine was awarded a grant from the National Institute of Health/National Health, Lung, and Blood Institute entitled the "Cultural Competence and Health Disparities Award" to enhance the ability of physicians and other health professionals to address health care disparities in a culturally sensitive manner, and to develop core curriculum and other educational materials that would increase the knowledge and skills across the medical education continuum on factors that contribute to disparities and address culturally competent approaches.
