Hospital Menonita de Cayey - Preventing Early Elective Deliveries
Hospital Menonita de Cayey, a 208-bed facility in Cayey, Puerto Rico, used best practices and peer-to-peer learning to reduce harm across the board, including preventing early elective deliveries. By implementing a hard-stop policy, developing a list of specific indicators for deliveries before 39 gestational weeks and establishing a checklist to identify all elective deliveries, the hospital reduced early elective deliveries by 91 percent. Hospital Menonita de Cayey was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network.
