Sanford Mayville Medical Center - Focusing on Communication to Improve Safety
Sanford Mayville Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Mayville, North Dakota, used best practices and peer-to-peer learning to significantly reduce harm across the board. By focusing on communication and process improvement throughout the organization, the medical center achieved a 77 percent reduction in patient harm. The hospital's successful falls prevention efforts contributed to these results. Sanford Mayville Medical Center was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network.
