St. Catherine Hospital - Reducing Patient Harm

St. Catherine Hospital, a 189-bed facility in East Chicago, Indiana, used best practices and peer-to-peer learning to reduce harm across the board. By focusing on root cause analysis, bedside communication and community outreach, the hospital achieved an 83 percent reduction in patient harm. St. Catherine's hospital board reports total harm to emphasize the number of patients impacted by harm events. St. Catherine Hospital was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network
