UConn John Dempsey Hospital - Improving Patient Safety
UConn John Dempsey Hospital, a 174-bed facility in Farmington, Connecticut, used best practices and peer-to-peer learning to reduce harm across the board. By focusing on high-reliability principles such as daily safety huddles, standardized reporting and weekly safety reviews, the hospital achieved a 66 percent reduction in patient harm and changed organizational culture. John Dempsey Hospital's catheter-associated urinary tract infection prevention efforts contributed to these results. UConn John Dempsey Hospital was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network.
