Yuma Regional Medical Center - Reducing Patient Harm
Yuma Regional Medical Center, a 406-bed facility in Yuma, Arizona, used best practices and peer-to-peer learning to reduce harm across the board. By focusing on hourly rounding, bedside shift reporting, "storytelling" and board engagement, the hospital prevented more than 800 patient harm events and reduced its early elective delivery rate to zero. Significant results were achieved by minimizing central line-associated bloodstream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections. Yuma Regional Medical Center was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network.
