Patient Safety, Every Day

The National Patient Safety Foundation leads Patient Safety Awareness Week in early March to promote education and awareness about safety issues in health care.  Every day, the AHA and NPSF work to support the managers and front-line professionals at hospitals and care systems who work 24/7 to provide patients with safe, high-quality care. The AHA-NPSF Comprehensive Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship offers education and training for senior executives, physicians, nurses, patient safety officers, risk managers and other performance improvement leaders to develop and lead patient safety improvement projects as part of larger delivery system transformation efforts. The curriculum provides the latest developments in patient safety and performance improvement. The fellowship’s expert faculty present at in-person meetings, teleconferences and webinars and provide individual coaching throughout the year-long program. Applications for the 2014–2015 fellowship are now being accepted online. For more information about the fellowship, go to www.ahafellowships.org.

HPOE.org features case studies, webinars, and guides—including checklists and guides on improving patient safety—from AHA resources and other groups.
