Assessing the Impact of HIT Initiatives in Health Care

In conjunction with Health Services Research, this webinar showcases health IT developments in the U.S. health care field and the impact it has had on health care quality, efficiency and patient safety. HSR's special issue on health IT featured a piece on the impact electronic health record adoption and health information exchange initiatives have on New York nursing homes.

Webinar objectives:

  • Hear about HSR's special issue on the status of health IT in the United States;
  • Learn about the impact the 2009 stimulus act – a $30 billion incentive program – had on health IT;
  • Understand the questions that have arisen out of extensive health IT expansion;
  • Hear about the extent to which nursing homes have participated in recent health IT changes;
  • Learn how New York nursing homes are using electronic health records and health information exchanges and the financial barriers that hinder further adoption.
