Religious Cultural Competency and Improved Patient Care: Trends and Best Practices

Providing culturally competent care to patients requires a focus on more than just race, ethnicity and language. Religion plays a major role in individual lives and in our society. Religious diversity is an important factor in care and can be easily overlooked in health care.

This webinar examined religious diversity trends nationwide and highlighted opportunities for organizations to provide individualized care for all patients. Additionally, this webinar portrayed how organizations can support diversity while decreasing care inefficiency and delivery costs.

Webinar presenters include:

  • Moderator: Richard de Filippi, chair of the AHA's Equity of Care committee and member of the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care's InterFaith and Diversity Workgroup
  • Rev. Mark E. Fowler, managing director of programs at The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding
  • Virginia Tong, vice president for cultural competence at Lutheran HealthCare, Brooklyn, NY
