Going Big: How Major Providers Scale Up Their Best Ideas

Mayo Clinic has four operating unites to create new tools, processes and businesses. The Division of Systems and Procedures is a consulting unit responsible for designing and implementing large and small process improvements. The Center for Innovation uses "design thinking" to create new models of care delivery and improve the patient experience. The third unit, Advanced Market Product Development, identifies, prototypes and tests new health and wellness product/service concepts. Finally, the Office of Business Development is tasked with finding emerging opportunities that can extend Mayo's revenue streams.
