Committed to Improving Community Health

June 5–11 is Community Health Improvement Week. The AHA’s Association for Community Health Improvement (ACHI) organizes this national event to raise awareness about and recognize community health professionals, organizations and coalitions for their commitment to improving the health of the communities they serve. Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence hosted the webinar “Engaging Patients and Community Stakeholders in Community Health Needs Assessments” to highlight findings from a forthcoming report from the AHA, ACHI and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), which includes a comprehensive model for effectively involving patients and community members throughout the entire community health needs assessment process. For hospitals, ensuring this type of engagement, as well as incorporating patient-centered outcomes research, will help create CHNAs and improvement strategies that effectively address the community’s priority health needs.
