Hospitals Focus on Patient Safety This Week and All Year

March 12-18, 2017, is Patient Safety Awareness Week, led by the National Patient Safety Foundation. Of course, every day of every week, our teams working within hospitals dedicate time, skill and resources to provide safe, high-quality care to patients. During the week ahead, the AHA and its affiliates are highlighting webinars, podcasts, interviews and other resources focused on patient safety. On March 14, you can join the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the AHA/HRET Hospital Improvement Innovation Network for a 45-minute webinar, “Partnering for Progress in Quality and Safety.” The AHA’s Physician Leadership Forum will host two podcasts later this week, and AONE is highlighting “Nurse Leader Reflections” every day on its website. At our nation’s hospitals and health systems, patient safety should be top of mind 24/7and needs the involvement of everyone—patients, families, clinicians, hospital staff and senior executives.
