SMH was an early participant in the Premier Quest Collaborative designed to improve quality, efficiency, safety and transparency. By benchmarking with organizations whose results were better than theirs, SMH was able to make rapid cycle improvements that resulted in improved outcomes. SMH was able to save lives with a 33 percent improvement in the mortality rate index, improve quality care in accordance with evidence-based medicine by nearly 8 percent and achieve a 22 percent reduction in inpatient costs.
