Chair Files

Share Your Story

The chair files highlight stories of hospitals and health systems that are implementing innovative practices and streamlined processes to improve the quality of health care for patients in their communities. We encourage you to submit your hospital, health system or association’s story to hpoe@aha.org, so we can share it on this website.

The HPOE website features case studies from the Illinois Hospital Association Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality 2012 Quality Excellence Achievement Awards. Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon was the award recipient in the rural/critical access category for demonstrating a 62 percent improvement in door-to-troponin results within 60 minutes and a 32 percent improvement in door-to-EKG within 10 minutes for cardiac patients in the emergency room. In the urban category, award recipient OSF Healthcare System in Peoria was recognized for using a systems approach that helped decrease the rate of nonmedically indicated inductions and C-sections from 18 percent to 3.8 percent, without increasing the rate of infants requiring respiratory support or the number of stillbirths.

More about these award recipients and the six finalists is available here.
